This week I spent the whole week getting ready for the single greatest holiday of the year: Halloween. Every year I try to throw one big Halloween party, always trying to outdo the previous year. This year’s party went surprisingly well. If you were one of the people who came out, I thank you. I had a blast.
I try to set the Halloween party up so that each room has some draw to it. This year I set a projector up in my living room and had old horror movies on loop in there. I also built a cauldron/fog chiller in there – ideally to coat the floor in a haze of fog, but it eventually just filled the house with smoke.
The pool room was lit in crazy red light. It was decorated with decorations my girlfriend and I created for a previous year that was themed around a witch’s house, so there were lots of witch-themed props.
The back yard was all lit up and roped off with caution tape. There was a fire pit and a place for people to sit outside of the noise from the party.
The basement is where the majority of my work this year went though. I built a bar by hand and decorated everything in the basement to look like a mad scientist laboratory. I used lots of black lights and black light paint to make everything glow. I’m really happy with he way it turned out. I put a second projector in the basement and projected Halloween based music videos up on the wall all night. There was a second much larger sized smoke machine in the basement that fed into a garbage can turned into a fog chiller. The whole thing was remote operated and spilled fog out from under the bar. At the bar I had a keg, two pitchers of jungle juice, and 60 shots in test tubes.
This is all a really long way of saying, I had no time to work on project Zeds this week, so there is no post. I look forward to being able to work on it this week though.
